Supporting Children In Need

Background

Our local community connected with Barburam, the director of Mercy & Truth Children’s Home, during the pandemic and, as of July 2022, have formed a partnership with him and his wife.

Baburam and his wife, Kalpana, have been providing for children in need for the last five years.  Their rented house on a small lot in Pokhara, Nepal provides shelter for their family of 4 along with another 12 or so children who either don’t have parents or whose parents are not able to care for them, while maintaining relationship with extended family, where possible

Future Vision

Looking forward, Baburam has dreams of purchasing a house where there is room for the children to play outside and as well as a spot for them to have a garden to grow their own produce.  As the need is great, he would also like to add staff and expand to accept more children.

Additional regular support is also needed for the following:

  • Travel (eg. visit children, appointments, etc.) as they do not own a vehicle

  • Clothing

  • State and federal taxes

  • House maintenance

  • Potential staff salary

  • Additional funds to provide food for those in nearby slums

  • Prayer for health for everyone living in the home, as there are some with specific health needs
