Pastor Jose’s Update - January 7-27, 2021 Trip to Chile

Due to the Covid protocols, there were many challenges in making this trip possible but with God’s grace, Pastor Jose was able to connect and minister to many families and support workers. Thanks to our sponsors, we were able to provide financial help and practical items that could help them in their homes and families.

HOPE IN DIFFICULT TIMES

Jose made so many personal visits providing encouragement and words of affirmation from the church in Canada. At each visit there was a bible reading, prayer, praise and final blessing, a box of food, and a new testament. God was able to bring times of refreshing to weary souls.

Pastor Jose visited Team leaders at the Chilean Bible Society and Pastors in various churches in Santiago. He also conducted a mission trip to the North part of the country in Monte Patria and the Town of Tulahuen.

We are so grateful for the goodness and hospitality of families who opened up their home to Pastor Jose during his stay. Thank you Pastor Marcos Rodrigue and beautiful family, from Monte Patria, for transported us and took us to the homes!

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.
— Psalm 23:1-3

THE CALL

It was 34 years ago that we were sent out as missionaries from Chile to Canada and we feel that it is now a season to serve back. The children's soccer camps, missions trips within the country providing groceries and supplies to families, and one on one care to parents are a way to extend care, compassion, and love to others.

THE Situation

At the end of 2019 and into 2020 Chile suffered an economic crisis due to the social strike in the country. There were violent protests throughout the country which forced companies and buildings to close. The violence also affected churches including one church that was burned down in downtown Santiago. The Chilean Bible Society had to close the bookstore to the public and lost a big part of its income. This was the situation that welcomed the pandemic in March. Everything had to close down during 2020 and this has caused a big challenge to this organization and other ministries we have been serving throughout the years.

We saw an opportunity to bless the team that serves in this organization, as well as leaders and pastors in Santiago, Chile.
